the Byfleet Players

Who we are:

The Byfleet Players was founded in 1955 in the Village of Byfleet, Surrey.

Over the years we have presented countless shows in the Byfleet Village Hall and have also taken part in the Woking Drama Festival.

There have been some famous faces to come from The Byfleet Players, most notably Peter Davison.

What we do:

We present an annual family pantomime in the Byfleet Village Hall – normally in January – as well as a summer production.

We also participate in Byfleet Parish Day where we have a stall offering the chance to win a family ticket for the next pantomime.

At the moment – like all other theatrical groups we have had to put everything on hold.

We are going to take this opportunity to re-start re-energised, refreshed and ready to entertain again!

What’s coming up?

Well, in the midst of the Covid pandemic, unfortunately we haven’t got anything arranged, but that doesn’t mean we’re not planning things in the background. At the beginning of January 2021, Dick Whittington should have paid a visit to the Village Hall courtesy of Simply Pantomime. We are hoping that he can make his way here in January 2023!

Normally in the summer we bring you a summer show of some kind – be it a variety night or a quiz with some interactive questions!

This year we were planning a few things, a summer event linking in with the amazing Matthew Hackney Foundation and also an autumn production. These are going to have to wait a bit longer but we will be back with plenty of vim and vigour!

Come and join in the fun!

We are a friendly bunch of people all from different backgrounds but with one thing in common –  a love of performing, or being involved with local productions.

We have cast members who are also involved with other local productions including choirs and some who are just exclusively Byfleet Players.

You don’t have to want to perform to join, we are always looking for people to help off stage with Front of house, prop building, stage hands etc.

Anyone aged 16+ can join.

Our membership fees are £15 for adults and £7.50 for people in full time education or seniors.

For child protection reasons (lack of dressing rooms!) we can’t have direct cast members under 16, however, we have partnered up with Allegro Dance Academy on some of our pantomimes. Their membership starts below this age.
